FAQ
1. How does Tubidy work?
Tubidy indexes user-generated content. When you search, we display results from uploaded and moderated videos. Videos stream directly from the host site to your device, while our servers convert the format on-the-fly for compatibility with your phone and network. Just search, stream, and enjoy.
2. Can I keep downloaded files on my phone?
No. Tubidy is strictly a “watch or listen only” service. Please see our Terms of Use for full details.
3. Why is the audio quality low?
We provide optimized audio suitable for fast streaming and low bandwidth usage, ideal for a "watch or listen only" service.
4. Is Tubidy free?
Yes, Tubidy is completely free to use. However, standard mobile data charges from your service provider may apply.
5. How can I watch videos in full-screen mode?
After selecting a video, tap it to open playback. In your media player settings, enable the 'Full screen' option if available.
6. Videos won't play on my device—what should I do?
Make sure your device supports video playback and your mobile network or carrier doesn't block streaming content.
7. I'm getting an XML parse error on my BlackBerry. What now?
Change your browser’s emulation mode to "Firefox" under options. For better results, try using Opera Mini.
8. My media player crashes or freezes on large videos.
This could be due to limited device memory. Try clearing your browser cache. If the issue continues, a device reset may be necessary.
9. Why can’t I play large videos?
Your network may limit video file size. Tubidy offers videos in 1-minute parts—click on Part 1, Part 2, etc., to watch them in chunks.
10. On BlackBerry, videos only play for 10 seconds.
Use the "media-net" browser instead of the default one. Some native browsers have playback limitations.
11. I hear sound but see no video on my BlackBerry.
Set your browser’s emulation mode to "BlackBerry": Go to Browser Menu → Options → Emulation Mode → BlackBerry.
12. Videos won’t play on my BlackBerry 8700.
The BlackBerry 8700 series lacks built-in media players. You’ll need a third-party player to view video content.
13. What formats/codecs does Tubidy use?
3GP Video (Regular): 3GPP (H.263/AMRNB)
3GP Video (High): 3GPP (MP4/AAC)
MP4 Video: MP4 (H.264/HEv2-AAC)
MP4 Audio: MP4 (HEv2-AAC)
Preview & Parts: 3GPP (H.263/AMRNB)
14. MP4 videos aren’t working on my device.
MP4 files use H.264 Baseline Profile Level 3 for video and HE-AAC v2 for audio. If your device isn’t compatible, try watching the 3GP version instead.
15. Why don’t all videos have MP4 formats available?
MP4 encoding is resource-intensive, so only the most popular videos are converted to MP4 (H.264/HEv2-AAC).
